Hypertension Case Finding Service
- Please note: In public-facing communications, the service is known as the NHS Blood Pressure Check Service.
The Hypertension Case-Finding Service supports community pharmacies to identify people who may have undiagnosed hypertension, through free blood pressure checks and, where appropriate, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM).
Important changes from 3 September 2026
From Thursday 3 September 2026, revised eligibility and service requirements come into effect, with the service more clearly focused on its primary purpose of hypertension case-finding.
Key changes include new eligibility criteria, changes to GP signposting, clarified ABPM requirements and tighter requirements for off-site provision.
Pharmacy owners and teams should familiarise themselves with the updated service specification before providing the service from 3 September 2026.
