Contraception Service – First look at the Screen Shots!

First look at the Screen Shots! (before Studying any Training Material)

We wish to support and encourage pharmacists who feel overwhelmed with the study requirements for the new Pharmacy First services.

Remember the objective is to deliver services to patients – not to sit a final year pharmacy exam question on the topic of contraception without any reference materials!

So before doing any study, take a look at the screenshots below and reflect on the service delivery process. You will see that the service delivery software prompts pharmacists at every step. Hence you do not need to learn and recollect every Exclusion criterion since they are all on the screen – you just need to be conversant with the issues when prompted.

You will also be in your private consultation room, ideally with key resources at your fingertips, prepared in advance with the help of these local support pages on your Community Pharmacy Leicestershire & Rutland website.

ScreenShots – The following links will allow you to page down through the screenshots in the PharmOutcomes Contraceptive Service modules. You will quickly sense the clinical issues at the heart of service provision, and this will guide the focus of your study. Conversely you will also sense what is peripheral to service provision and so allocate a proportionate amount of study time.

Initiating a Progestogen only Pill (POP)

Initiating a Combined Oral Contraceptive (COC) pill

Hopefully this will make the process of getting ‘service ready’ feel a lot less overwhelming!!
