Welcome to Community Pharmacy Leicestershire and Rutland (CPL&R) formerly known as Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC).
It is my great pleasure to warmly welcome you to our website and thank you for your interest.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused an unprecedented external shock. During this time community pharmacies across Leicestershire and Rutland strived to provide continual excellent, compassionate, and comprehensive care to their communities. We saw collaboration across Integrated Care Systems (ICS) at a pace and scale unimaginable.
We sincerely thank Community Pharmacy for their relentless dedication and hard work.
As we look towards the future, Community Pharmacy will continue to be central to our regional wellbeing and prosperity in the years ahead. However, Community Pharmacy is immensely strained, and the current condition continues to worsen.
It is not just the ripples of the pandemic that has had a profound impact on sector.
Today Community Pharmacy is facing an unprecedented amount of challenges e.g., years of underfunding, rising costs due to spiralling out of control drug costs, continued leakage of the workforce in to primary care networks and GP roles and increasing patient demand and workload. All these factors are putting our local community pharmacies at risk of permanent collapse and closure.
I am truly humbled and proud of all the work our community pharmacies and their respective pharmacy teams do everyday, in keeping our communities safe. Everyday, overcoming a range of significant challenges posed by the current health landscape.
In this challenging time, we have now launched Our Values that support what we stand for. They underpin everything we do and help us strengthen relationships with all our stakeholders.
We have to believe in the future and be prepared to create that future together. I believe in Community Pharmacy and the value we create through our contractors and pharmacy workforce, and will continue to work hard on behalf of the sector.
